Private Tour: National Gallery of Art

Twenty ladies gathered this morning for a private tour of In Celebration of Paul Mellon at the National Gallery of Art, led by NGA Educator, Eric Denker.

The exhibition is of Paul Mellon's collection of works on paper. Eric made the paper come alive by discussing technique and delving into why an artist might select a certain medium and why Paul Mellon collected one work over another. One could hardly keep up with the wonderful facts ... did you know that an artist must "rock" a copper plate 3,000 times in order to prepare it for making a mezzotint?
