Sumpter Priddy III
Dealer of American Furniture & Decorative Arts; former Curator Colonial Williamsburg presented a lecture on “The Rediscovery of Presidential Cabinetmaker William Worthington (1775-1843).”
He offered a window into 18th/19th century Washington. We learned through the rediscovery of William Worthington, that Washington furniture at the turn of the 19th century was just as fine as the examples that were coming out of Baltimore at the time. In a sense, Sumpter is working to restore Washington's reputation as a place of excellence for furniture design as well as the decorative arts. [photos forthcoming]
