Private Tour: East Building, National Gallery of Art

Harry Cooper, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art led a group of 35 members on a tour of the newly reopened East Building. He explained design elements of the towers and also his thinking behind hanging the galleries. He noted that an opportunity to rehang an entire portion of a museum just doesn't really ever happen. And, that Corcoran's impressive collection of Post-War art was pivotal to his thinking. In fact, Cooper incorporated many, many works from the Corcoran Collection -- including works purchased by the Corcoran Women's Committee.
