Lecture: Melissa Chiu, Director Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden
Before an audience of nearly 60 people, the Hirshhorn's new director (took the helm in 2014) demonstrated her scholarship, leadership and vision for the museum -- asking this simple question, "How can we be the national voice for contemporary art and culture in the 21st century?" She is going about tying all exhibitions and programs back to this. We can expect to see performance art, new media and other highly engaging projects such as those that use the building as part of the work of art (i.e. projections on the exterior).
Our Annual Fall Champagne Welcome with speaker, Melissa Chiu was a huge success
